Going cross platform could skyrocket the number of BBM Money users

While reading through BlackBerry-related news yesterday, I saw a post that our friend Ronen published on BerryReview  pertaining to BBM Money . Here’s whats new: In the first 90 days since launching BBM Money in Indonesia, the service has in excess of 60,000 users registered.  It’s not exactly a huge number, but apparently the target is to grow this user base to 200,000 by the end of the current year.  Sounds like they are well on their way to achieving this goal.

While there isn’t any timeline as to when this will show up in apps, the SDK will be available beginning on May 15th

Phoenix hits Kickstarter goal to bring Android apps to HP TouchPad

I think most of the people who follow the mobile realm when HP purchased Palm to get webOS wondered exactly what HP was thinking. The operating system already failed to lure in developers and buyers for Palm.

According to a report at CNN Money , Microsoft has "laid out the welcome mat" to Apple in order to try and convince Cupertino to produce a Windows 8 iTunes app. However, Windows 8 users shouldn't hold their breath that one will appear anytime soon, as Microsoft CFO Tami Reller explains: You shouldn't expect an iTunes app on Windows 8 any time soon

How Apple can stop Google from taking over the iPhone. Again.

Earlier today Google posted some iOS code aimed at helping developers use a combination of URL schemes and x-callback to basically set Chrome as the default browser from within their own apps, if it detects the user has Chrome installed. Call it a hijack, call it a take over, call it a 5th column, call it whatever you want, but it's a smart, strategic move on Google's part, and it's something Apple will have to address. Google, once the envy of Soviet-era Russia with the utilitarianism of their iOS apps, has embraced much, much better design as of late.
